The need to remember the lives of loved ones has been part of the human experience throughout history. For this unique project, the client requested the design of an unusual, "think out of the box" solution for a low-maintenance, peaceful haven that elicits contemplation.
The imposing, nine foot tall monument was preexsting on the site, so Terra Bella Land Design created the surrounding area to complement the headstone's strong presence. The round and curving design elements of the monument are repeated in the white granite paving. Ample seating opportunities, that double as retaining walls, provide vertical areas for the requested engraved quotations. The color yellow, a favorite of the deceased, factored prominently when the plant palette was selected: massed yellow narcissus bulbs, potentilla blossoms, and the fall coloring of river birch trees and dried grasses.
Our unexpected solutions to complex site issues such as this, is what makes Terra Bella Land Design so unique.
